Captain William Borck, 32nd Indiana

William Borck, age 32, lived in the Ohio River community of Lawrenceburg in Dearborn County, Indiana. Lt. Col. Thomas J. Wood mustered Borck in as 2nd Lieutenant Company “F,” 32nd Indiana on August 24, 1861 at Indianapolis. While the regiment was encamped at Munfordville, Kentucky, he received a commission as 1st Lieutenant, Company “E,” on January 10, 1862. Nine months later, Borck was commissioned as captain of Company “G,” and was mustered into the rank on September 25, 1862, after the regiment returned to Louisville during Bragg’s invasion of the Bluegrass. Borck led Company “G” through the remainder of the regiment’s service, and mustered out September 7, 1864.
