Aze Klein
By Michael A. Peake

NOTE: Although I have no concrete evidence, I have reason to suspect this individual is Corporal Andrew Hermann Klein (Kline), since no further information on Aze Klein is available from references under that name.

Andrew Hermann Klein (Kline), age 22, a resident of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, was enrolled by Captain Frederick August Mueller and mustered as a corporal of Company “F,” 32nd Indiana on September 15, 1861. Just over one year later, Klein was discharged due to disability. After recovering at Cincinnati, he served as hospital steward at the U. S. A. Washington Military Hospital in the city for the remainder of the war. Klein returned to Germany in 1869 to attend medical school at the University of Wuerzburg, graduating in 1872. After establishing his first practice at #1 Hamilton Road, Cincinnati, Dr. Klein’s patients included several veterans of the 32nd Indiana. He practiced medicine up until shortly before his death on January 22, 1900.
