Julius Richardt, a resident of Chicago, Illinois, mustered into the Field & Staff of the 24th Illinois Regiment Infantry as Commissary Sergeant on July 8, 1861. In December 1862, he was appointed 2nd Lieutenant of Company “I,” a position he held until mustered out August 6, 1864.
